Diego Rivera: The Cubist Years (1913 - 1917) - Ramon Favela (guest curator). Published by Phoenix Art Museum, Paperback, 1984. Illustrated in black and white and colour. This is a catalogue for a touring exhibition of the same name in 1984, visiting Phoenix Art Museum, IBM Gallery of Science and Art New York, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Museum of Modern Art, Mexico City, spanning March 1984 to February 1985 (not continuous). Diego Maria de la Concepcion Juan Nepomuceno Estanislao de la Rivera y Barrientos Acosta y Rodriguez, known as Diego Rivera (1886 - 1957), was a prominent Mexican painter, whose large frescoes helped establish the mural movement in Mexican and international art. Rivera met artist Frida Kahlo (an art student at the time) in Mexico when he was married to his second wife. They began a passionate affair and, after his divorce, Rivera married Kahlo on August 21, 1929, when he was 42 and she was 22. Their infidelities and his violent temper resulted in divorce in 1939, but they remarried a year later, in San Francisco. Condition: Good. Clean inside and tightly bound; the glue between the pages and the cover can be seen, but they are still attached. The cover has a grey background with one of Rivera's works on the front. The mainly grey surface has been scratched a bit and there is a small crease in the bottom corner adjoining the fore-edge.
