Dorothy Ann Lovell: Little Gold Boy
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
"Dorothy Ann Lovell was a British children's author, who wrote many books in the 1930s and 40s, and was published by such prominent firms as Jonathan Cape and Faber & Faber. Her books boasted such notable illustrators as Walter Trier, Nicolas Bentley and Shirley Hughes. She was the author of Toby Twinkle, Stories of the Hoppity-Pops (1935), The Strange Adventures of Emma (1941), Curly-Top (1946), Little Gold Boy (1946), Magic in the Air (1952, illustrated by Hughes) and many others" (Information from Nestlings Press, Toronto, Canada). This is the scarcest of her many publications. Many illustrations, including some colour (see image 2 for an example). Generally good condition. No notes or child scribble. Gilt lettering on spine has somewhat faded and there is a cup stain on front cover. Hence relatively low price for this rare volume.
