Tightly curled crosiers, covered in shaggy black hairs, unfurl into arching, bright green fronds with black, scaly stems. Dryopteris atrata is perfect for a woodland border or shady patio pot, even coping with full shade. A relatively large fern it forms a robust clump making a handsome structural plant that provides lush, green foliage in dark corners. Semi-evergreen.
