Elgan Llyr Thomas: Unveiled Iain Burnside, piano Craig Ogden, guitar Release by Delphian 2023 - New CD in shrink wrap This program traverses the history of male homosexuality with North Wales-born tenor Elgan Llyr Thomas (1990-), who also performs with English National Opera. Britten's "Michelangelo's Seven Sonnets" is unveiled in a new English-language version by Jeremy Sams (1957-), and the passionate emotions are freed from the safe historical distance of the Italian Renaissance and performed in a way that was not possible in 1940, when Britten wrote it for his partner Peter Pears. is performed in a way that was not possible in the 1940s. Other highlights include Tippett's "Song of Achilles," premiered by Peter Pears and Julian Bream; the world premiere recording of a piece by female composer Ruth Gipps on a poem by poet Rupert Brooke; a small piece by W.
