Exploration of Antarctic Subglacial Aquatic Environments: Environmental and Scientific Stewardship - Various. Published by the National Academies Press, Paperback, 2007. Illustrated. Antarctic is renowned for its extreme cold, yet liquid (water) occurs at the base of the Antarctic ice sheet, several kilometres below the surface, the discovery of which was made in the 1970s. The presence of subglacial lakes on the frozen continent has captured the interest of people, scientists and non-scientists alike; these lakes and their connected aquatic systems are among the last unexplored places on earth. Condition: Good. This book is clean and tightly bound. The only issue is the thin plastic coating which covers the paper cover: it has come away slightly from the bottom outer corner on the back.
