False Messiah: The Story Of Michael X First Edition
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
The phenomenal career of Michael X was founded on the racial tensions in British society. In reality no more than a petty crook, he claimed to be the leader of the British Black Power movement in the 1960s. He became a notable figure, a political influence, frequently in the news. Rich and famous white liberals invited him to their parties, and financed his extravagant schemes for 'helping the black community'. And then he crashed. First edition, 1977. Glossy textual and photographic dust jacket. Black textured paper-covered boards with gilt text to spine. Corners sharp. Text block is clean and tight.
