Franz von Papen Memoirs Translated by Brian Connell Franz Joseph Hermann Michael Maria von Papen (1879 - 1969) was a German conservative politician, reactionary, diplomat, Prussian nobleman and General Staff officer. He served as the chancellor of Germany in 1932, and then as the vice-chancellor under Adolf Hitler from 1933 to 1934. Published in 1952, the Memoirs of Franz von Papen is a study in self-deception by an intelligent man who knows he made terrible mistakes with horrific consequences but is still trying to explain that his choices were the best of bad ones available. In good condition. Discolouration to pages. Dust jacket is torn and is showing signs of heavy wear. Front board is stained.
