Freedom Under The Law. Sir Alfred Denning. Stevens and Sons Ltd. 126pp. Fifth impression, 1952 (first published in 1949). Hardback, in Good condition (maroon covers, with gilded titling along the spine ; lightly tanned ; some foxing on the end papers ; otherwise, clean and complete) Based on a lecture given at Senate House, London University in 1949 by the then Lord Justice in the Court of Appeal, Alfred Denning (later the famous Lord Denning), the book considers four key aspects of the law - Personal Freedom, Freedom of Mind and Conscience, Justice between Man and the State, and the Powers of the Executive. It was the first of the recently established first series of lectures under the auspices of the Hamlyn Trust. Articulate, challenging and fluently written and still of great relevance today
