Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets What are Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets? Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets are a treatment for the symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux such as acid regurgitation, heartburn and indigestion, for example, following meals or during pregnancy and for symptoms of excess stomach acid (hyperacidity). These tablets contain three active ingredients calcium carbonate, sodium alginate and sodium bicarbonate. The calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate work as antacids to neutralise your stomach acid and ease the pain and discomfort this can cause. The sodium alginate works by forming a protective barrier over the contents of your stomach, preventing acid reflux and soothing irritation in your chest and throat. Warnings and Precautions Children under 12 years: not recommended. Do not use if: If you are allergic to any of the ingredients this medication contains Speak to your GP before use if: You are pregnant or breastfeeding You have severe kidney problems You have electrolyte disturbance causing low level of phosphate in the blood, also known as hypophosphatemia You suffer or have suffered from significant kidney or heart disease You have reduced amounts of gastric acid in your stomach Ingredients Active Ingredients: Each tablet contains: Sodium Alginate 250mg, Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate 133.5mg and Calcium Carbonate 80mg.
