Taking inspiration from medieval knights as well as dark and gothic fantasy, the beautiful pieces have been cast from fine resin and then carefully hand-painted. This technique gives them not only an extremely high level of detail but also a dry-brushed, weathered look which really adds to the dark atmosphere of the ensemble. The set also includes 4 sturdy turrets, also made from hand-painted resin. These towers support the board which keeps it elevated and prevents the highly polished glass from being marked or scratched. These striking board supports also further add to the unusual and eye-catching design. The whole set looks much more imposing and head-turning when situated above the surface it's set up on. The board itself is made from heavy polished glass which has been decorated with a screen-printed border design as well as the board's squares. The result is a partly transparent board which gives a magical, fantasy atmosphere to the set and helps to accentuate the quality of the medieval knight chessmen.
