Visit The Great British Car Journey and take a tour through 100 years of British motoring history! This wonderful exhibition features 100 iconic British cars and we are offering entrance ticket packages for you or the whole family to enjoy a day learning about the British car industry. Via the wonders of a very modern audio-visual tablet you'll meet the very traditional Herbert Austin and William Morris. These two gentlemen were innovators in bringing motoring to the masses with their Austin and Morris cars. This industrial duo will tell you all about how they built their empires during their fascinating interactive tour. There are around 100 exhibits that make up The Great British Car Journey; from the very humble to the luxury with all the best-known British car brands being represented. Some names are long gone but there's a little renaissance going on in this pretty corner of the Derbyshire Dales overlooking the River Derwent and we love it. From Herbert's Austin 7 (hailed as the first affordable car) to the latest sporty McLaren and everything in between this is a fine collection of cars. Having been carefully curated by the owners the cars serve as a reminder of the British car industry through the ages. No-one can deny it's been a bumpy journey with highs and lows along the way but ultimately this is an on-going story of engineering enterprise and gritted British determination and endeavour. This collection allows you to see all of this history through the cars designed and built in the UK. In fact many were produced in factories just down the road in the West Midlands. These factories employed thousands often including several generations of the same family. It's somewhat befitting then that this collection is housed in a former wire factory. These Derwent Works are well-known for having made the telegraph cables that were laid under the English Channel during WW2 - another fine example of British industry at its best. Book your tickets for The Great British Car Journey and reminisce about the heyday of British motoring as you admire examples of British cars from across the ages from classic hatchbacks and affordable family saloons to luxury sports cars. (And if you'd like to drive some of the cars on show take a look at the Drive Dad's Car experience hosted by The Great British Car journey!).
