They opened up a popular tasting room and developed products like Green Hat Gin -- named after a famously savvy DC bootlegger who supplied booze to the Capitol during Prohibition. The high-quality Spirits and charming back-story worked and sales soared. In 2020, it was acquired by MGP but the stills are still running in Ivy City and the distillery was named #3 Best Craft Gin Distillery by USA Today Green Hat's signature Original Batch Gin is a tasty treat indeed with a refreshing, unique profile all its own. It's a red winter wheat Spirit vapor-infused with classic botanicals and a few surprises -- juniper, angelica, cassia, celery seed, coriander, grains of paradise, grapefruit zest, lemon, orris root, sage, and lemongrass In the fashion of a true Navy Strength Spirit, Green Hat Navy Strength Gin really cranks it up a notch. Not only is it a much higher proof -- 57.1% ABV -- but it doubles up on the juniper and citrus. Expect bold but refreshing smooth notes of candied lemon, grapefruit, flowery lavender, and clover.
