Guy Sacre (1948-*): OEuvres pour piano Billy Eidi, piano Released by Palais desDegustateurs 2022 New CD in shrink wrap Last Children's Songs, Winter Sonatine, Spring Sonatine, Summer Sonatine, Autumn Sonatine, Thirteen Impromptus Does power need to be represented in music? In a page of The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Milan Kundera raises the question of gravity: do things gain in importance by becoming heavier, or on the contrary by becoming lighter? I don't know if this passage actually exists in the book, or if I dreamed it. But the impression I have left of it made a deep impression on me. However, I will not go and check: I want to keep the pages of this book in the impression I felt when reading it. Intensity and lightness. This passage revealed nothing to me, as is very often the case, but it precipitated, in the chemical sense of the term, perceptions, sensations already present but until then dissolved, to which it gave consistency. This question of the weight of things remains essential for me. I am very wary of power, thickness, anything that weighs and insists. We progress by freeing ourselves from power and constraints, by lightening things. The initial question here is therefore purely rhetorical. As it is, moreover, in the chapter that Guy Sacre wrote on Schubert. He concludes with these words a brief aside, almost an incise, which leaves no doubt as to the answer he brings to this question. Nothing of this power, nor of this din which accompanies it and with which one associates it, in the works brought together here. On the contrary, everything there is only clarity, transparency, allusion. But we perceive the echo of our memories, of forgotten impressions, with an extraordinary acuteness, almost harsh. They strike us deeply with the precision of their features. Stripping, restraint... everything is expressed there, with so little. Or what seems so little: the essential. Intensity and lightness. The quest of a winegrower then approaches that of an artist. Jean-Yves Bizot / Winemaker in Vosne-Romanee.
