Helga: A Tale In Verse, Reinhold Fuchs, Johnson & Greig Lerwick 1897, K Irvine - Signed, 1st Edition "Despite the traces of real tradition regarding Thorburn Sigurdson, this story seems to derive chiefly from a German romantic poem by Reinhold Fuchs, translated by Katherine Irvine as Helga: A Tale in Verse. A parallel to this can be found in another such poem, Eda: Et Sagn fra Shetlandsoerne, which was translated and used as the basis for an ostensibly factual newspaper article in the late nineteenth century." - taken from The Stewart Earls Of Orkney & The History Of Orkney & Shetland by Peter Anderson Translated from the German by K. I. K Irvine Signed by K Irvine to the title page. Book in fair condition. The paper cover is rubbed at the edges & corners, is stained & browned with foxing inside. the book itself has foxing to the end papers & page ends. Generally unmarked, clean & bright thereafter.
