Dave combines his twin passions of photography and hill and mountain walking to produce dramatic landscape images. The four portfolios included in this book cover his photography over the past 20 years in Europe and America as well as England, Whales and Scotland. Dramatic lighting plays a major part in adding to the scenic beauty of Dave's landscapes and he contributes a short essay providing tips on meeting the technical challenges. Dave prefers the traditional darkroom-based approach to monochrome printing, seeing this as the second creative phase in realising on paper what was envisaged at the time of exposure. In a brief essay, he shares with the reader knowledge of the techniques he has accumulated over the years to produce the distinctive quality for which his prints are acclaimed.
