Imphal: A Flower on Lofty Heights The classic account of the most fiercely-fought battles of the Burma campaign in World War II. This remote state of the north-east frontier of India, known as Manipur would become the scene of the greatest military disasters ever suffered by the Japanese on land. Five VCs and a GC would be awarded to allied forces (Indian, Gurkha, American & British) during the battle. Illustrated with photographs and maps - maps on the front & back endpapers. The book is bound in red cloth, protected by the paper dustjacket, which is shelf-worn but not price-clipped. This is the August 1962 reprint of the first edition from June 1962. Text is clear, a little spotting on the page edges.
