Impressions Of The 20th Century: Fine Art Prints From The V&a Collection
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
Drawing on the V&A's magnificent collection of twentieth-century prints, this history of printmaking is seen through the work of internationally renowned artists - all of whom relished the print medium as an important for of expression. This book includes key American exponents such as Robert Rauschenberg, Jim Dine, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, Andy Warhol and R.B. Kitaj; British artists including Richard Hamilton, David Hockney, Bridget Riley, Eduardo Paolozzi and Patrick Caulfield were also pushing forward the boundaries of the fine art print and their works are well represented here. Each year of the 20th century there is a print or set of prints, ranging from an exquisite photogravure by Frederick Evans of Lincoln Cathedral (1900) to Shroud (2000), an image of artist Lee Wagstaff screen-printed in his own blood. This edition is in very good condition, tightly bound with clean pages. There is some foxing to the top page edges. The hardback cover and dust jacket are marked.
