Sydney Holland, Viscount Knutsford. In Black and White. Edward Arnold, 1927. No dj. Fair condition, but spine torn at the top and covers a bit grubby. Some foxing in the text. Protected b & w plate of the author opposite title page which is unfortunately now loose as the binding has here come adrift. 4 other b & w ph. of the author fishing. Handsome ex libris book plate on front end paper. Lord Knutsford (1855 - 1931) led a varied life in public service and had many dealings with royalty, which he is keen to relate. Though trained as a barrister, his main claim to fame was as Chairman of the London Hospital Committee for 30 years. Perhaps his medical influence was due to him being the grandson of the celebrated physician Sir Henry Holland. The Viscountcy was inherited from his brother. This copy PS12.99
