The full title of this book is 'Machine Tools Commonly Employed in Modern Engineering Workshops Together with a Series of Sectional Models Illustrating The Arrangement of The Parts and The Details of Some Typical Tools'. A stunning two volume set showcasing the array of various machine tools of the era. Volume One focuses on: Chapter I (One) - Engine Lathes Chapter II (Two) - Capstan and Turret Combination Lathes Chapter III (Three) - Automatic Screw and Turning Machines Chapter IV (Four) - Boring and Turning Mills and Vertical Turret Lathes Whilst Volume Two explores: Chapter V (Five) - Drilling Machines Chapter VI (Six) - Planing, Shaping, and Slotting Machines Chapter VII (Seven) - Milling Machines Chapter VIII (Eight) - Gear-Cutting and Generating Machines Chapter IX (Nine) - Grinding Machines All chapters feature extensive introductions and details of the types and manufacturers of machine tools available. Forewords written by John Dewar Cormack. Each book features numerous detailed drawings, plus some very nifty colour images with lift-the-flap pieces to demonstrate both the exterior and interior parts of the machines at once. Books are in great condition. Pages remain clean and readable and lift-the-flap images are all intact and undamaged. There are signs of age-related wear including markings and scuffing to covers, very light tanning and foxing, plus some areas where spine is visible through pages. Previous owner's inscriptions at front.
