This is the 1992 Revised Folio Society edition of The Pax Britannica Trilogy. This three-book set was initially published under the name James Morris, before the author began transitioning from male to female in 1972 and adopted the name Jan Morris. Here, Jan Morris writes an all-new introduction to her works. The books cover the British Empire, from the earliest days of the East India Company to the troubled years of independence and 1960s post-colonialism. Included are (in chronological order): 1. Heaven's Command: An Imperial Progress (originally published 1973) 2. Pax Britannica: The Climax of Empire (originally published 1968) 3. Farewell the Trumpets: An Imperial Retreat (originally published 1978) Featuring plenty of black and white photographs, drawings, and paintings throughout, this is a fascinating rarity and provides new insights into the complexity of British/World Relations. Set is in lovely condition. Pages are clean and bright. Covers good. Slight wear and markings to slipcase.
