FIRST EDITION 1921 ENCLOSING A LETTER FROM VIOLET MARTINEAU TO Mr HIGGS TO WHOM SHE IS SENDING A COPY OF THE SHORT LIFE OF JOHN MARTINEAU IN WHICH THERE IS A FULL ACCOUNT OF HIS FRIENDSHIP WITH CHARLES KINGSLEY. SIGNED BY VIOLET MARTINEAU. This book is in good condition for its age with some foxing in inside cover and on some of its inner pages and back inside cover. It has a hard brown cover with one wear mark on front cover, slight wear marks on spine and edge of front cover. Inside there is photograph of the grave of Charles Kingsley photograph taken by W.H. in 1927. The book is inscribed to Mrs W.Higgs from the author in 1929, coinciding with the letter.
