Journal Quilts, Dye & Print by Ineke Berlyn Welcome to the second collection of 'Journal Quilts'. How fast time flies, another two creative years have passed and another 24 little pieces of quilt-art have been designed and stitched as part of the challenge set by the British Contemporary Quilt Group. Quilts for 2009 were a different format yet again; 15 cm x 30 cm. I did not choose a particular theme for this year and each piece was made with whatever inspiration surfaced at the time, resulting in an interesting collection of techniques and materials. In 2010, I decided a view through' would make a good starting point and most of the 17.5 cm x 25 cm quilts are of memorable landscapes. The pages in between are filled with simple sketchbook style notes on how to dye your fabric and how to turn it into art-cloth using different printing techniques. These notes give just a taster on how to make a start. You decide you would like to do more, I suggest you have a look at one of the recommended books or attend one of my workshops. Have fun looking through these pages, find inspiration and why not have a go yourself!
