I can only say that I longed to preserve some record of the thought and effort which Keeling put into the conduct of life, and I am certain that it would have been his wish that his experience and even his blunders and his failures should be of use to others. My daughter's courage and her confidence in my judgement, a confidence for which I am most grateful, have enabled me to relate the circumstances of his life with a frankness which would have been impossible for anyone else. The book has green boards and green lettering on a white sticker to the spine. The upper and lower boards are in poor condition and have heavy wear and tear as can be seen from the pictures hence the reduced price. All four outer corners have heavy bumping and wear and tear. The upper and lower edges of the spine have heavy bumping and wear and tear. There is a heavy indent in the lower outer edge of the lower board which has wear and tear. The upper board has scratches, stains, watermarks and wear and tear. There is heavy wear and tear along the upper section of the gutter hinge on the upper board. The lower board has very heavy wear and tear as can be seen from the picture particularly near the outer edge. The gutter hinge of the lower board has heavy wear and tear particularly near the lower edge. The front endpages have heavy tanning and the spine has been cracked along the front endpage. The rear endpages have foxing and there is foxing on pages throughout the book. There is wear and tear along the outer edge of the upper board.
