A true Chicagoan homage to aperitifs. KOVAL ("black sheep" in Yiddish) is an extravagant establishment near Lake Michigan, creating organic Whiskey, Liqueurs and specialty Spirits, and get this: it's the first distillery since the mid-1880s in the Windy City. Founded in 2008 by a young couple Robert and Sonat Birnecker, built on the distilling traditions of Robert's Austrian family. They source the grain from the local farmers and do all the magic on-site. They won over 50 different awards and guess what?! We have something beautiful they made. Three words: Cranberry Gin Liqueur. Made exclusively from ingredients sourced locally, the KOVAL's Gin brings fruity and bittersweet flavors and invites them to a party with thirteen signature botanicals. It's a jubilation of aperitif culture and a wonderful cocktail base for any time of the year (don't get us started on the Spritz or the Cosmo!).
