Petrov-Vodkin (1878-1939) was a major highly original Russian artist of the early twentieth century. This book includes paintings, watercolours and drawings, book illustrations , stage-set and costume designs, and a biographical outline with documentary photographs. The paintings reproduced are mainly from the Russian Museum in Leningrad, and the Tretykov. Blue cloth boards with red titling to spine, blue cloth endpapers. Although the book as as new, the dust jacket has a little edgewear and a 1.5 cm closed tear to the top rear panel at the joint with the spine. Translation from the Russian by A. Shkarovsky-Raffe and E. Andreyeva. No previous owner's name or inscription. A seemingly unread copy.
