First published in 1987, this is the first of a 3-volume series entitled 'Del Arte Moderno', and is subtitled "Del impresionismo al expresionismo". Written in Spanish, it could nonetheless be appreciated by anyone wishing to own a pretty comprehensive collection of images of famous paintings from the mid-19th century to the 1920s. Esther Boix (1943-2014) was a Catalan painter and teacher trained at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios Llotja (1943) and the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de Barcelona (1945-1951), followed by a year in Paris. Her work ranged over a variety of subjects, styles and processes, and she was considered one of the most outstanding artists of the short-lived (1950) Grupo Postectura. Our book is in very nice condition, and comes with an excellent dust jacket showing no signs of wear apart from one small 2 cm tear at the foot of the rear spine angle. The book itself, bound in cream cloth with title etc in black lettering on the spine, is in 'as new' condition externally, and inside is firmly bound with no sign of wear or use.
