It works as an antifungal agent by targeting the fungi which cause athlete’s foot, treating the cause of infection while also relieving itching and burning. What is an Athletes's foot? An athlete’s foot is a fungal skin infection. This happens when the natural fungi on your skin are allowed to multiply and cause infection. This usually happens if you have feet that sweat a lot and wear tight-fitting shoes. This warm, moist environment is the perfect place for these fungi to thrive, causing a sore and itchy rash when your skin is infected. What causes Athlete's Foot? Athlete's foot is caused by fungi that thrive in warm and moist environments; such as: Changing rooms Showers Public pools Walking barefoot in these places can put you at greater risk.
