Hardcover. 211 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth. Pages are clean. Binding remains firm. Boards have minor edge wear . Bound in green cloth with title in silver lettering. Winifred Fortescue (1888 - 1951) was a British writer and actress. The wife of Sir John Fortescue, librarian and archivist at Windsor Castle and reputed British Army historian, she became formally styled Winifred, Lady Fortescue, when he was knighted in 1926. They moved and lived in France where she started writing books. She had previously written articles for magazines and papers. In the 1930s she and her husband moved to Provence, France beginning her book writing career with "Perfume from Provence". She wrote a number of other books whilst there. Her husband died within 2 years of them moving to France but she stayed on until forced to move out by the German invasion in World War II. She returned at the end of the war and died in Opio, Provence. Size 21 x 15cm. (8.25 x 5.5 inches)
