Hubert Robert est l'un des plus celebres peintres du XVIIIe siecle, a l'egal de Greuze, Fragonard ou Joseph Vernet. Le musee de Valence conserve la plus importante collection de dessins et de peintures de cet artiste, avec celle du musee de l'Ermitage a Saint-Petersbourg.
