Text in French. Hardback in good condition. Boards show significant shelf wear with edge wear, rubbing and corner bumping. Label on spine is chipped and there is chipping to top edge of spine. Pages have cut top edges and otherwise deckle edged. Pages are tight, show tanning to edges and occasional foxing. book by Madame La Comtesse de Genlis (1746-1830) who knew many of the eminent thinkers of the French Enlightenment. She reports several discussions that were supposedly had in the house of the philosopher Holbach and at which were present: Diderot, d Alembert, Galiani, Helvetius, Raynal, Grimm, Morelet and others.
