The Author's father, John Warner, was a lock keeper on the Worcester & Birmingham Canal. This autobiographical account tells of a hauntingly deprived childhood in the 1920s and 1930s.Pat Warner's mother, brother and most of her sisters were dead by the time she was three years old. Nevertheless, in spite of great hardships it was a happy childhood, peopled by the canal boat families, waterway workers and villagers of the intensely rural community of Tardebigge. Illustrated with 89 photographs and drawings, many dating back more than fifty years, Lock Keeper's Daughter is a unique social document. Such a story has never before been told. Canal enthusiasts and countryside lovers will be fascinated by this glimpse of a totally vanished way of life. Lock keeper's daughter by Pat Warner Signed Copy Condition: Used Very Good.
