First edition of a beautifully written classic for the freshwater fisherman. "This delightful book embodies every fisherman's dream. Jukes carried through life an idealised vision of the Pennine river of his boyhood. In this book he tells how, in his later years, he was able to return and remake it, fashioning it to make the dream river of his youth into reality. There is much to tell on the way: how pools were made; the river was dammed; flies were encouraged; water plants were planted and a hatchery started. For every fisherman it will be a picture of paradise regained." Blue-green boards with gilt lettering. Charming maps at each endpaper. Spine has faded. Boards and binding are very sound, but stained (see photos). Lightly foxed.
