Mailed Fist: 6th Armoured Division at War, 1940-1945. Ken Ford. Hardback. Signed First Edition, 2005. Near-Fine. The book is signed and dedicated on the front free endpaper "To Terry and Linda Moore, with the author's compliments. Ken Ford, 6 June 2014, Southampton". Both the book and the unclipped dust-jacket are in Very Good Plus (near-Fine) condition, with just a trace of crushing to the top and bottom of the spine. Formed in 1940, the British 6th Armoured Division was in the thick of the action in North Africa from December 1942 in the climactic encounters with the German Afrika Korps. Combining eye witness accounts, unit war diaries and unpublished sources, this is the history of that distinguished division. The Author Ken Ford was born in Eastleigh, Hampshire, England and left North End Secondary School in 1960. After three years in the Physics Department of Southampton University, he left to work his way around Europe. He then became a telecommunications engineer in Southampton (to support his lovely wife Valda and daughters Amanda and Joanne) and spent 29 years at the pointy end until, in 1992, he became disillusioned with working for other people and opened a bookshop in Romsey, Hampshire. He also wrote books. He now lives in Southampton, drinks red wine (in moderation), annoys his grandchildren and continues to write books (40 to date).
