Kazimir Malevich (1879-1935) was a Russian avant-garde artist and art theorist, whose pioneering work and writing influenced the development of abstract art in the 20th century. He was born in Kiev, to an ethnic Polish family. He is sometimes considered to be part of the Ukrainian avant-garde that was shaped by Ukrainian-born artists who worked first in Ukraine and later over a geographical span between Europe and America. The author, Jean-Claude Marcade, is a French art historian and curator and art and literary scholar. He is one of the most well known specialists and researchers of the avant-garde and is author of numerous publications dedicated to the art of Kazimir Malevich. The book is in French and has numerous illustration. The book is in a sturdy presentation box.
