In creating the Maximus Jeff Hamilton combined his years of experience with the up-to-the-minute ingenuity of Mapexs famed Black Panther Design Lab. He wanted a jazz-voiced snare drum with a full thick sound so mahogany was the obvious choice of wood. However in order to maintain that warm sound across a variety of volumes and stick techniques Mapex got scientific.
