This title of the book is "Mary Queen of Scots from her birth to her flight into England: a brief biography: with critical notes, a few documents hitherto unpublished, and an itinerary." The biography takes up the first 176 pages; then there are copious notes and references up to page 490; then the documents followed by the itinerary. The book is firmly bound in light green buckram which is sunned at the edges with some scuffing and corner-bumping. The lettering on the spine is gilt The ends of the spine are a bit crushed. The spine is sunned and there are a few marks made by drops of a liquid. The pastedowns, free endpapers and title pages are foxed but the text is clean and bright. Owner's signature on front free endpaper. Text block has foxed roughcut edges except for the top edge, which is gilded. Book is in very good condition considering its age.
