Isaac Todhunter FRS (23 November 1820 - 1 March 1884), was an English mathematician who is best known today for the books he wrote on mathematics and its history. This edition is an 1887 reprint of the original 1867 publication and has a dedicated prize inscription from Leigh Science and Art Classes. Leigh's Academy' was set up by the painter James Matthew Leigh (1808-60) in 1848, following on from on earlier independent grouping developed in 1845. Leigh's intention was to provide an alternative to the Government School of Art In good condition with some bumping and rubbing on the embossed cover
