(Manuscript of 1814 found in the Imperial Carriages Taken at Waterloo Containing The History of the Last Six Months of Napoleon's Reign, by Baron Fain, Secretary to the Cabinet at That Time, Master of Requests). This is the second of four volumes entitled: Memoires des Contemporains por Servir a l'Histoire de France, et Principalement a celle de la Republique et de L'Empire. (Contemporary memories of the History of France, particularly concerning the Republic and the Empire (3rd edition). Published by Bossange Freres, Paris in 1825. Quarter leather and marbled boards and end papers with gilt decoration to spine (lettering has faded). 455 pp. incl. index, measuring 13.5cm x 20.5cm. In good condition. Although the hard covers are faded and shelf worn they are intact. The pages are light to moderately toned and heavy foxing is mainly confined to the first and last dozen or so pages and much lighter elsewhere. The text is clear throughout. With the exception of the fold out map the pages are untorn. The binding is very tight. There is a brief ink inscription at the front dated 1827. NOTE: The text is written entirely in the French language.
