Memories of Patmos: Or, Some of the Great Words and Visions of the Apocalypse - J. R. Macduff. Published by James Nisbet & Co., Hardback (no dust jacket) 1871. Patmos is a Greek island in the Aegean Sea. It is famous as the location where John of Patmos received the visions found in the Book of Revelation of the New Testament, and where the Book of Revelation was written. John Ross (J. R.) Macduff (1818 - 1895) was a Scottish divine and a prolific author of religious essays. He was a Presbyterian minister and a prolific writer of Christian books and materials, and was especially known for the practical, poetic, and devotional qualities of his work. Macduff was also a hymn writer and published poet. Condition: Poor. The pages are mainly clean inside, although a handwritten date in pencil was found on one of them. Tanning and foxing are all around the page edges, plus the first and last few pages inside. The book is not tightly bound: at the frontispiece and at the back, the pages are splitting from the backing. The front cover is reasonable, if a little worn; the spine is suffering from wear and tear, and the back cover has a multicoloured stain at the top near the spine. A small sticker is on the front paste-down end paper and another on the back paste-down.
