Ancient eastern influence. Beautifully crafted from golden rosewood. 3.75" (95 mm) king. Weighted and felted. Perfect for a 17" (43 cm)) board. Inspiration for the Mogul Fretwork Hand Carved Golden Rosewood Chess Pieces comes from old eastern cultures, adhering to those ancient, elongated, cylindrical shapes. The rook is one of the outstanding pieces within this set thanks to a sturdy, urn shaped outline. The hand turned upper curve represents some of the best workmanship we have seen on a chess piece here at Regency for a long time. As well as the aesthetic quality, the rounded middle allows a player to comfortably hold the piece in hand. These golden rosewood and boxwood chess pieces are all finished individually and so all differ slightly. Every set, in itself, therefore, is a complete one-off. The best boards to complement the Mogul Fretwork pieces, which have a 3.75 inch (95 mm) king, are of at least 17 inches (43 cm) in size.
