Seraj Assi was born and raised in a small Palestinian village in Israel. At the age of thirty, he self-exiled to the United States and settled in Washington DC. He holds a PhD in Arabic and Islamic Studies from Georgetown University. His academic publications include The History and Politics of the Bedouin (Routledge). He writes for several media outlets.
