Napoleon The Little
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
Political pamphlet condemning the rule of Napoleon III and the Second French Empire, written in exile by Victor Hugo, best known as author of 'Les Miserables'. This copy was published in 1852 but the copyright page is covered with a newspaper clipping, making it impossible to ascertain if there is an edition remark without risking damage to the volume. Condition: Boards very shelfworn, corner bumped to card, rubbed, faded, some holes to spine. A number of newspaper clippings about the life and death of Napoleon III have been pasted into the volume, over the front and back FEPs, title page, copyright page and contents pages, along with a loose folded clipping; some of these can be lifted to see the printed information underneath. A long handwritten section of French is inscribed on the half-title page. The volume as a whole has foxing and marks throughout, with some pages somewhat bent, but all pages remain readable and the binding is intact.
