The Evangelical Church in the Rhineland is one of the churches that were the first to carefully follow the openings of the Second Vatican Council and respond to them. This documentary volume documents for the first time the more than 50-year-old cumenical path that the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland has taken with the Roman Catholic Church since the early 1960s. Each of its 6 parts is dedicated to a decade. A few points: The highlight in the sixties was without a doubt the public panel discussion that Prses Beckmann and Cardinal Jaeger gave during the 12th German Evangelical Church Congress in Cologne on July 30, 1965, on the topic: Catholics and Protestants in the face of the council. "In 1973 the regional synod passed a first groundbreaking declaration on cooperation between the Evangelical and Catholic Churches ". (In the 1980s, the regional synod drew up an official position on the 1982 Lima Declarations on Baptism, Eucharist and Ministry.) On the occasion of the Trier Holy Rock Pilgrimage in 1996, an agreement was reached on March 26th ... for mutual recognition the baptism ". To the Vatican declaration Dominus Jesus in 2000, the Rhenish Synod replied in 2001 with the statement: -The path of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland remains cumenical." She also recommended the conclusion of further parish partnerships on site. (In 2013 a theological foundation for the cumenical character of the Reformation Festival 2017 was developed.) This documentation volume is a treasure trove for the ecumenical engagement of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland and an inspiration for its future ecumenical path.
