Danish violinist Anna Agafia, winner of the Thierry Schertz Prize at the Gstaad Music Festival 2022, has recorded Nielsen's Violin Concerto and Szymanowski's Violin Concerto No. 2! Szymanowski's Violin Concerto No. 2 on her recording! The Gstaad Music Festival is held in Gstaad, Switzerland, a mountain village famous for the "Goldendepas Line", a panoramic railroad line that crosses Switzerland, and is famous for attracting talented young musicians from all over the world. The "Thierry Schertz Prize" was established as a tribute to Thierry Schertz, one of the founders of the festival. The prize includes a recording opportunity for one of the participants to release a CD on the Claves label, and has been awarded to Jean-Paul Gasparyan on piano (winner in 2020), Timothy Ridout on viola (winner in 2019), and Anastasiya Kobekina on cello (winner in 2018). (2018 Prize), Anais Godoumard on harp (2015 Prize), Joseph Mork on piano (2006 Prize), Emmanuel Seysson on harp (2005 Prize), and other artists currently active as world-class performers.Anna Agafia, who studied with Aleksandr Zapolski in Copenhagen, won a number of Danish music competitions she took as a student; in 2016, she moved to Switzerland, where she studied at the Conservatoire de Lausanne with Svetlana Makarova and Pavel Vernikov. Since then, she has won several illustrious competition awards, including first prize at the Ginette Neveu Competition in 2017, second prize at the Eugene Ysaye International Music Competition in 2018, and third prize at the Carl Nielsen International Competition in 2019. Agafia, who is a charming and expressive storyteller, performs Nielsen and Shimanowski with all her might. She gives an eloquent performance in Nielsen and a powerful performance in Szymanowski.
