Vrby, hned za nim poznavame stareho sedlaka Svehlu, napojeneho Krameriusovou ,,Knihou Josefovou" a ,,Ceska expedice" je jiz primo obrozenskou dilnou, plne duverujici ve zdar sveho dila. Pak teprve uvadi nas J. k vlastnimu hrdinovi dila F. L. Vekovi, do jeho venkovskeho zatisi v Dobrusce. Stava se kupcem, ale neupada do malosti, nybrz je buditelem sveho okoli. Vrba, immediately behind him we recognize the old peasant Svehla, connected to Kramerius's "Book of Joseph", and "Ceska expedice" is already a revivalist workshop, fully confident in the success of its work. Only then does J. introduce us to the work's own hero, F. L. Vek, to his rural still life in Dobruska. He becomes a buyer, but he does not fall into smallness, but rather he is an awakener of his surroundings.
