(Small tear in the middle of dustjacket spine, otherwise both book and jacket in excellent condition.) This dissertation centres around four of the main and most popular books which make up the Old Testament Apocrypha- the book of Tobit, the Book of Judith, the Additions of Esther and the Additions to the Book of Daniel. with the accounts from the life of Daniel, the idol Bel and the Dragon God, Susanna and the Elders, the Three Men in the Fiery Furnace and Daniel in the Lion's Den. It examines how these apocryphal texts were used and interpreted. It looks at the iconography, symbolism and meanings in these works of art and assesses how these images change from century to century, in both Roman Catholic and Protestant Europe, with special reference to these images in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
