A cool vintage push button telephone from 1986. This is a Plessey PBT101. The PBT100 was the first electronic telephone, this 101 model was the first to feature a recall button. It was issued to customer by British Telecom in the 1980s and early 1990s. These Plessey telephones offered fast push-button operation for the home and office. This was a big innovation over the earlier rotary dial phones. There is a sticker on the bottom of the phone to show it was refurbished in 2001 by Tone Communications in Bristol. This example appears to be in excellent condition with no visible damage and no missing parts. There is some slight discolouration (it has become a slightly darker shade of 1980s cream). There are some signs of use but no cracks or chips. These phones were built to last. The remnants of an old sticker are underneath the clear plastic panel but should clean off without issue. We haven't been able to test the operation of the phone. An excellent piece of telecommunications history. This would make an excellent prop for any production set in the 80s/90s or just a cool retro phone to use in the house.
