Phantom Glide is a permanent base treatment that improves glide performance across a variety of snow conditions. Phantom Glide makes skiing and snowboarding more fun by increasing the hydrophobic qualities of your ski or snowboard and reducing the need for waxing. It will save time with less waxing required, improve performance, ultimately save money, and reduce environmental harm as less wax will end up in the water cycle. How Phantom Glide Works Phantom Glide is not a wax. A traditional wax is not permanent and only provides a temporary solution by coating the top layer of your base, and after a few runs it wears off and glide performance reduces. Think of it as water filling a jar of marbles, just on a molecular level. Phantom Glide uses microscopic, short chain compounds to penetrate and diffuse into unstructured sections of your ski or snowboard base. Traditional wax is not capable of doing this because wax molecules are too large to move through base material. After the Phantom Glide has been absorbed into the base, UV light from a specially designed station activates the curing process, permanently bonding the liquid to the base material. Testing has shown that Phantom Glide outperforms bases using universal waxes, or worn bases with little wax, by providing consistent glide and as it is a permanent treatment, this does not change, even after base grinds. Currently we are only offering this service on new skis purchased via the Ellis Brigham website. Should you wish to have it applied to new skis bought in store, please speak with the store directly

Ellis Brigham was born in 1933, the brainchild of Frederick Ellis Brigham, who set up business making cycling shoes and walking boots in a tiny 'two up, two down' building on the outskirts of Manchester.

After the war, as mountain walking and climbing became more and more popular, the shop began to sell ex-WD climbing equipment and Brigham's boots with their special nailing patterns became very sought after.

Fast forward almost 80 years and Ellis Brigham now has 24 shops across the UK and a leading website, making it the UK's premier retailer for ski hardware, mountaineering equipment and outdoor clothing.
