Barrie & Jenkins 1980 360pp FIRST EDITION. Hardback. Very minor wear to dust jacket. Volume in very good condition. A rare copy of the autobiography of a key figure in British art in the first half of the twentieth century. As Principal successively of Camberwell and the Central School of Arts and Crafts he was mentor to the likes of Pasmore, Minton, Ayrton, Peake, Vaughan and Gowing. While a student in Paris in the Twenties he knew Giacometti, Utrillo, Chagall and Man Ray.
