This item is intended for professional use only The Presidium Gem Indicator PGI is the industries only handheld digital tester for coloured stones. Using advanced technology, it measures the stones thermal conductivity to classify their identity. Presidium are a leading manufacturer of high quality Gemmological instruments and distribute to institutes, laboratories, jewellery manufacturers, diamond appraisal and retail businesses worldwide. Key features of this product include: The ability to identify coloured stones through an extended data range of 31 different gemstones. An optional colour input function which allows users to select from a range of 12 common colours. Distinguishes diamonds from other coloured stones. Includes a very fine thermoelectric probe tip (0.45mm diameter) which ensures accurate results for stones as small as 0.02ct. Easy functionality digital LED display that returns quick results within 6 seconds. Requires 3 x AAA alkaline batteries however is supplied with a USB port for alternative power source. The unit will indicate when the battery is low. Please note: The Gem Indicator is unable to distinguish natural stones from lab-grown/synthetic gemstones as both have similar thermal conductivity. All of Presidium products are RoHS Compliant with the RoHS regulation as well as 4R Compliant with WEEE regulation. This is a specialist product that requires careful operation and is intended for professional use only. See our operation guidelines below: Constant pressure must be maintained between the probe tip and stone for accurate readings. When testing, ensure that the probe pen is upright otherwise results shown will not be accurate. An alarm will sound if the tip is touching metal. Stones must be clean before testing; gently rub the table of the gemstone with a soft cloth (998 126) or tissue paper. The probe tip must also be clean before testing; gently rub in a circular motion on paper. Please note: Rubber caps are provided to protect the tip. These must be removed before use. Calibration of the tester may be required; on first use, testing in a different ambient temperature or when a new probe tip is installed.
